In their own words - comments by those surveyed
I have even googled bird calls - never did this before! Realized the 'unusual' birds I've noticed are quite usual for Tucson. Weird, all this paying attention due to this world crisis affecting so many...

As much as I appreciate the 8:00pm salutes to the frontline staff facing Covid, I've noticed it's throwing me off a bit when I'm trying to eat dinner or relax in the back garden. I absolutely have noticed birds more and I've done a little research even.

The noise of people around and everyday living is comforting to me. It reminds me that I'm not alone and that the world/life goes on.

I feel more irritated by roommates’ noises than usual. Like there is no escape.

Definitely more peaceful. Feel much better rested without traffic noise - sleep better.

I like it quieter. I can tune out, now I don’t have to.

I have always been very cognizant of sound and how it affects me, so the no change means I still pay attention and love quiet and sounds of nature.

Appreciate the quiet - makes our daily walks much more enjoyable. Relaxing nature of the quietness is calming.
Always loved the sound of birds, but appreciate them even more. I wake as soon as I hear the birds singing in the morning!

I have been noticing nature in my garden for decades. It surprises me how the changes are so obvious. I wonder if they are, or if I t’s less human noise just allows the nature to be more obvious?

It would nice if we could just enjoy what's around us.
The more nature I hear the calmer and happier I am.
